Our approach

An institutional practice, not a promise about technology or markets.

The starting point is not choosing a license. It is understanding the product, activities, parties, flows, custody, customers and jurisdictions involved. That classification helps define the regulatory perimeter and whether the project should proceed, under what conditions and with which specialists.

Compass Abogados brings together financial regulation, foreign investment, corporate governance, contracting and compliance. We work in defined stages with bilingual coordination, without guaranteeing approvals, regulatory timelines or commercial outcomes.

How we work

  4. 04

    Launch counsel

We advise during implementation, coordinate specialists and support key regulatory and contractual decisions.

Relevant experience

A financial and regulatory foundation for evaluating innovation.

The practice is grounded in more than twenty years of experience across banking, insurance, securities and pension regulation; trusts, securitizations, security arrangements, corporate governance, compliance and international finance.

That background supports an assessment of digital initiatives through the lenses of regulation, capital, governance, contracts and risk. When technical, tax or foreign-law capabilities are required, we coordinate specialists and clearly define responsibilities.

Experience is described by its nature and scope without identifying clients, proceedings or confidential information.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about digital assets and financial innovation.

Does every digital initiative require CNAD registration?

That should not be assumed. The answer depends on the activities, product, jurisdiction, customers and marketing approach. The initial assessment defines the perimeter before recommending a filing.

Can a foreign company be in scope without being domiciled in El Salvador?

It may be when it actively promotes or markets services to potential customers in the country. The relevant facts, channels and activities must be reviewed first.

Does Compass guarantee a license, registration or approval timeline?

No. The firm advises and supports the process, but decisions, requests and timing belong to the authorities and also depend on the quality and completeness of the information submitted.

Does the firm assess technology, cybersecurity or reserves?

We can identify legal implications and coordinate technical specialists, auditors or certifiers. We do not replace technical, accounting or foreign-law assessments.

What should be sent to begin?

Initially, only a brief, non-confidential description of the product, activities, countries, parties and timeline. Sensitive documents are requested after the initial controls are completed.
